THPN is a metabolite of the drug phenformin, which is used to treat diabetes by increasing insulin sensitivity. THPN binds to nuclear dna and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. This drug also interacts with transcriptional regulators and can bind to response elements on DNA. The phase transition temperature for THPN is around -77°C.
