Murayaquinone is a reactive compound that has been shown to be active against a number of bacterial strains in vitro. Murayaquinone is structurally similar to the natural product, quinoxaline and has been shown to inhibit efflux pumps in Streptomyces lividans. It also inhibits bacterial biosynthesis by inhibiting protein synthesis.
