Wallichinine is a growth factor that binds to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and activates the downstream signaling pathway. Wallichinine has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in xenografts in mice, leading to tumor regression. Wallichinine also inhibits the activation of apoptosis pathways by inhibiting the ABCB1 transporter, which plays a role in drug binding and efflux. This drug has potent antitumor activity against cancer cells and is able to bind to multidrug resistance protein 1 (MRP1) as well as other proteins. Wallichinine may be used as a potential therapeutic agent for cancer treatment due to its ability to inhibit survivin expression and induce apoptosis.
