3-Bromo-2-iodoaniline is an indole derivative that can be synthesized by the palladium-catalyzed heterocyclization of 3,5-dibromobenzene and 2-iodoaniline. The regioselectivity of this reaction depends on the nature of the substituents on the indole ring. This reaction is useful for the synthesis of heterocycles and heteroannulated compounds. 3-Bromo-2-iodoaniline has been shown to have bioactivity against some cancer cell lines and natural products. It has also been used as a precursor for other heterocyclic derivatives.
