Descripción

Mitomycin D is a mitotic inhibitor that is used as an antineoplastic agent. Mitomycin D inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the N-terminal amino acid of newly synthesized proteins and blocking their release from the ribosomes. It also inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis, leading to cell death. Mitomycin D has been shown to be effective in treating hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer, and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. The drug binds to the human immunoglobulin receptor on liver cells and other cells, making it possible for the drug to be delivered systemically or locally in humans.
