3-(2,4-Diaminopteridin-6-yl)phenol is a drug that inhibits the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase, which is required for the production of melanin. 3-(2,4-Diaminopteridin-6-yl)phenol has been shown to be effective in retinal diseases and other conditions associated with tyrosine metabolism. This drug binds to all three forms of tyrosinase: copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and manganese (Mn). 3-(2,4-Diaminopteridin-6-yl)phenol has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in cancer cells and inflammatory diseases. This drug has low toxicity due to its ability to induce apoptosis and inhibit angiogenesis.
