Descripción

Phleomycin is a drug that belongs to the group of antibiotics. It prevents bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis, which may be due to inhibition of the production of DNA and RNA. Phleomycin has been shown to have clastogenic effects on chromosomal material in human lymphoblastoid cells. It has also been shown to cause mutations in bacteria and mammalian cells. These mutations are caused by radiation and not due to low molecular weight or polypeptides.
