Bifeprunox is a small-molecule drug that blocks the activity of the GABA receptor. It has pharmacological and biological effects in various systems, including inhibition of GABA binding to its receptors, activation of the GABA receptor, modulation of cell proliferation and migration, and modulation of protein interactions. Bifeprunox binds to an allosteric site on the GABA receptor and modulates the binding affinity for GABA at this site. It is used as a research tool for studying neurotransmitter receptors.
