It is a modulator of immunity and downregulates or upregulates the inflammatory response. AMG 18 hydrochloride has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of hyperpigmentation in mice, which was reversed with the administration of a blocker of the immune response. This drug also modulates pigmentation in human skin in vivo by inhibiting melanin synthesis.
