The compound has been shown to be useful in the synthesis of pyrazoles and imidazoles with high yields. 1-Ethyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carbaldehyde has shown to be a potent inhibitor of enzymes such as cyclooxygenase, which are involved in the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins.
