Abacavir sulfate is an antiviral drug that belongs to the class of HIV protease inhibitors. It is used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs to treat HIV-1 infection. Abacavir sulfate inhibits viral replication by blocking the activity of HIV-1 protease, which is necessary for the production of new virus particles.
