- 5-(3-Methoxy-phenyl)-oxazole
5-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3-oxazole is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have pharmacological effects. It is an inhibitor of tyramine cyclase and siccanin cyclase. This inhibition of the enzyme activity leads to decreased levels of catecholamines and serotonin in the body. 5-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3-oxazole has also been shown to be effective against chlorpromazine-resistant strains of S. cerevisiae, including those with mutations in the gene encoding cytochrome P450. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the growth of C. elegans and C. albicans at high concentrations.
