Descripción:2-Tert-butyltoluene is a synthetic, volatile chemical with the molecular formula of C8H12. It is used in the production of polycarboxylic acid and as an intermediate for other chemicals. 2-Tert-butyltoluene can be prepared by alkylation of toluene with acetyl chloride, which gives a mixture of alkylbenzenes, including 2-tert-butyltoluene. The reaction mechanism for this process includes an acid catalyst and the reaction time can be adjusted to produce more or less 2-tert-butyltoluene.
