Benzaldehyde 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazone is an imino compound that can be synthesized by reacting benzaldehyde with nitrosyl azide. It has the chemical formula (CH3)2C6H2N(NO2)2 and the molecular mass of 140.12 g/mol. This compound is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and acetone, but insoluble in water. The crystallographic analysis of this compound shows that it has a dihedral angle of 108°, a phenyl ring with three nitro groups, and two plates containing metal cations.
