Descripción:Acetylepipodophyllotoxin is an antineoplastic agent, which is a semi-synthetic derivative of the naturally occurring lignan podophyllotoxin. This compound is primarily sourced from the plant Podophyllum peltatum, commonly known as the Mayapple. It functions as a topoisomerase II inhibitor, a mechanism that interferes with DNA replication. By stabilizing the temporary break between DNA strands, it prevents the relegation of the DNA, leading to errors in DNA synthesis and inducing programmed cell death, or apoptosis.
