N-(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)-L-Leucine is a hydrophobic compound that has been used in the analysis of phospholipids. This compound's fluorescence properties are not affected by changes in pH, which makes it suitable for use as an analytical method for determining the presence of phosphate ions in water samples. The solubility data and protonation state of this compound make it suitable for use as an antigen or substrate in sodium citrate buffer. N-(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)-L-Leucine can also be hydrolyzed by alkali and analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
