Descripción:
Methyl tridecanoate is an industrial chemical that is used as a biodiesel additive. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi on surfaces, which is based on its ability to react with fatty acids in their cell membranes. Methyl tridecanoate also has esterification properties, which allow it to form ester compounds with other molecules such as fatty acids or aromatic hydrocarbons. Methyl tridecanoate can be synthesized by reacting methyl myristate (a fatty acid) with ethyl alcohol in the presence of a catalyst.
