Descripción:Methyl ethanesulfonate is a chemical that is used in the methylation of serine protease. It inhibits the activity of serine protease by reacting with the nucleophilic sulfur atom in the enzyme's active site. This reaction results in a change in the shape of the enzyme's active site, which prevents access to substrate and reduces its affinity for substrate. Methyl ethanesulfonate has been shown to be effective against inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other inflammatory diseases.Methyl ethanesulfonate has low toxicity, however it can cause liver damage if an individual is exposed to high doses over a long period of time as a result of its aliphatic hydrocarbon group.
