Lead Tetrabutyl is a chromatographic sample preparation technique that can be used for the separation of organic solutes from inorganic solutes. It is a modification of the solvent extraction technique, which uses an organic solvent to extract the solute from the inorganic matrix. The organic solvent is then eluted with an aqueous solution and concentrated by evaporation to recover the sample. Lead Tetrabutyl has been used for clinical chemistry to measure phenyl groups in plasma. This technique also allows for determination of solute concentration by measuring the rate of reaction or nmr spectra.
