2-(2-Nitrophenyl)acetaldehyde is a reactive molecule that is formed by the photodecomposition of carbodiimides. It can also be formed from cinnolines through a bond cleavage reaction, which produces an imine salt and nitro group. 2-(2-Nitrophenyl)acetaldehyde has been shown to have a number of biological effects, including the inhibition of ventricular myocytes by blocking ATP synthesis and causing contracture. It also inhibits the activity of protein kinase C. The redox potentials for 2-(2-nitrophenyl)acetaldehyde are -0.93V and -0.15V, respectively, in H2O and DMSO solutions. This molecule has been shown to be effective as an inhibitor in coordination chemistry, which may be due to its ability to bind with metal ions such as copper (Cu). 2-(2-Nitrophenyl)acetaldehyde can also coordinate with Cu
