4-Bromophenyl isothiocyanate is a molecule that belongs to the functional theory of cancer therapy. It has been shown to have a constant inhibitory effect on the growth of bacteria, and is an antibacterial agent. 4-Bromophenyl isothiocyanate reacts with malonic acid to produce diazonium salt, which can be modified by amination reaction. The resultant product from this reaction is then oxidized by chlorine atom to yield bromine. Bromine has an inhibitory effect on bacterial growth, and can also be used as a disinfectant.
