DL-Alanyl-DL-phenylalanine (DLPA) is a peptidomimetic that has shown to be active against trichloroacetic acid (TCA)-induced ulcers in the small intestine of rats. DLPA inhibits the growth of stenotrophomonas maltophilia and reduces bowel disease. It also has an inhibitory effect on inflammatory bowel disease. The DLPA is an enantiomer, which means it is only active as a single molecule. This enantiomer binds to the cavity of Caco-2 cells and increases blood pressure.
