• Descripción: (2S,3S)-2-(Carbamoylamino)-3-methylpentanoic acid (CMA) is a potential anti-tuberculosis drug candidate that inhibits the growth of mycobacterium by inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis. CMA has been shown to have synergy with cerulenin and clarithromycin in inhibiting the growth of mycobacterium avium. The synergistic effect was observed using radiometric techniques and confirmed using techniques such as thin layer chromatography, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. CMA is an analog of ethambutol, which is used to treat tuberculosis.
