Enniatin A1 is a cyclic peptide that is derived from the fungus, Penicillium. It has pharmacokinetic properties and chronic exposure that are similar to those of other cyclic peptides. Enniatin A1 inhibits the activity of enzymes such as ATPases and proteases, which may be due to its hydrogen-bonding capacity. This drug has been shown to decrease zearalenone levels in vitro, but it does not increase atp levels or have any effect on polymerase chain reactions (PCR). In vivo studies have shown that Enniatin A1 decreases zearalenone levels in mice.
