It has been shown to cause significant cytotoxicity in human cancer cells and experimental models. NSC 75968 inhibits the activity of the voltage gated L type calcium channels in tumor cells, leading to a reduction in cellular energy metabolism and a decrease in ion flux through the cell membrane. This agent has also been shown to inhibit receptor activity by binding to an allosteric site on the alpha subunit of the G protein coupled receptor.
