Información del producto
Cellulose nanocrystals are anisotropic, minimally cross-linked gel matrices that can be used to control the orientation of molecules or nanoparticles in aqueous media. The synthesis of these materials is typically achieved via two strategies: (1) treating cellulose with strong nucleophiles and (2) chemically modifying cellulose by reacting it with methacrylates. These approaches have been shown to yield either amorphous or crystalline cellulose nanocrystals, respectively. Cellulose nanocrystals have been shown to exhibit a high degree of reactivity and are capable of enhancing the efficiency of reactions involving reactive species such as azides, alkyl halides, and alkynes. This property has made them attractive for use in strategies for the preparation of polymers and other organic compounds.
