It binds to the extracellular domain of the insulin receptor, preventing it from binding to its ligands. The inhibition of the insulin receptor leads to a reduction in glucose uptake and an increase in glycogen synthesis. This agent also inhibits ion channels such as voltage gated sodium channels. 3-Chloro-N-(1-cyclohexyl-3-methyl-1H­ pyrazol­5­yl)-4­fluoro­benzeneacetamide has been shown to act as an agonist at alpha2A adrenergic receptors, leading to increased blood pressure.
