It has been shown to activate both ion channels and receptor proteins in the central nervous system, which may be due to its ability to inhibit chloride ion flux through GABA receptors. 3-(2-Methoxyphenyl)-1-(4-methylphenyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-amine also binds to the NMDA receptor and is an inhibitor of protein interactions.
