6-Difluoromethyl-4-(1,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-2-mercapto-nicotinonitrile is an anticancer drug that inhibits the growth of cancer cells and has been shown to be effective against a number of different cancers. It is a linker for pyrazole derivatives and can be used to rationalize their activity. 6-Difluoromethyl-4-(1,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-2-mercapto nicotinonitrile also is an antimicrobial agent with in vitro anticancer activity against cisplatin and other chemotherapeutic agents sensitive to the drug. The synthesis of this compound has been optimized by using molecular modeling techniques.
