SAR 439859 is a CDK4/6 inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. SAR 439859 binds to the active site of the enzyme, preventing its function and thus inhibiting cell division. It also inhibits other enzymes involved in cancer cell proliferation, such as ubiquitin ligases, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA repair mechanisms. SAR 439859 has been tested in clinical trials for breast cancer treatment and has shown promising results against metastatic tumors. SAR 439859 is metabolized by CYP3A4 and CYP2C19 and has low bioavailability. The drug is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, which allows it to be used for brain cancers.
