Descripción:Biliatresone is a synthetic analog of the natural hormone ursodeoxycholic acid. It has been shown to have potent activity against primary sclerosing cholangitis, which is characterized by inflammation of the bile ducts in the liver. Biliatresone also has antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to reduce reactive oxygen species and increase intracellular glutathione levels. The drug has been found to be safe for use in pediatric patients, with no adverse effects on growth factor activity or protein homeostasis observed during a test study. Biliatresone is not metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and does not cause hepatotoxicity in animal studies.
