Glycochenodeoxycholic acid-d4 is a molecule that was used to study the metabolism of bile acids. It was synthesized by incorporating deuterium atoms into the molecule at specific sites to make it a radiolabeled analog of glycochenodeoxycholic acid. The incorporation of deuterium atoms into the molecule made it possible to measure the rate of metabolism in wild-type mice, as well as the concentration of glycochenodeoxycholic acid-d4 in plasma and urine samples.
