It is also used as a reagent for qualitative analysis in gas chromatography and liquid chromatography. 1,1,3-Trimethyl-1H-indene's acid catalyst properties make it useful for various industrial purposes such as synthesizing polyester fibers, nylon resins, and rubber products. Low levels of serum are associated with tamoxifen use in breast cancer patients undergoing treatment.
