It also inhibits copper oxide, which is an electrochemical sensor used in many applications. This compound is homologous to other brominated alkenes and can be used for cross-coupling reactions with halides and pentanes. 2-Bromononane also has a high boiling point of about 190 degrees Celsius, making it useful in applications where heat resistance is required or when used as a solvent.
