N-Methylnaphthalen-2-amine has been shown to react with uronic acid to form formaldehyde and 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid. This reaction can be used as a test for aromatic amines in urine. The metabolites of this substance are excreted in the urine and conjugated with glucuronic acid or sulfate.
