8-hydroxy dictanmnine is an alkaloid that belongs to the quinoline derivatives. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, with a potency similar to dictamnine and tyrosinase activity. 8-Hydroxy dictanmnine has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in a study of human liver cells. The structure of 8-hydroxy dictanmnine is similar to acridone, which is found in plants such as "Aconitum spp." and "Rhododendron spp." Acridones are used for treatment of inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.
