Descripción:2-Methyl-3-phenyl-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one is a synthetic compound that has been isolated from natural sources. It is an acetonitrile derivative of the quinazolinones, which are found in plants such as Acacia species and Moringa oleifera. 2-Methyl-3-phenyl-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one has been synthesized using acetylation and ring opening methods. The synthesis of this compound can be achieved by reacting aldehydes with amines or alkylating an amine with carbon source. The reaction mechanism is initiated by the formation of an imine intermediate followed by the addition of a nucleophile to form a second intermediate that undergoes dehydration to produce the desired product.
