Descripción:Glyceryl triheptadecanoate is a fatty acid that is found in the brain and other tissues. It has been shown to be a potential biomarker for brain infarction in infants, as well as diabetic patients. Glyceryl triheptadecanoate is also involved in glucose regulation and may be a marker for diabetes. It is found in high amounts in the brains of both non-diabetic and diabetic patients with Alzheimer's disease, although it has not been determined if this is due to glyceryl triheptadecanoate being a causative agent or due to glyceryl triheptadecanoate being produced as a result of some other process. This compound can be identified by ionization techniques such as chemical ionization or electrospray ionization quadrupole.
