1,2-Dioleoyl-rac-glycerol is a diacylglycerol that is derived from the reaction of 1,2-diols with acyl chlorides. It has been shown to be an effective activator of protein kinase C and can activate the enzyme at lower concentrations than other diacylglycerols. It also has biochemical properties such as its ability to form hydrogen bonds, which may result in changes in body formation or intramolecular hydrogen bonding. The phase transition temperature of this compound is higher than most fatty acids.
