Descripción:Hexyl propionate is a chemical compound that belongs to the ester compounds. It is soluble in alcohols and esters, but insoluble in water. Hexyl propionate has been shown to be an effective solvent for the extraction of volatile organic compounds from plant leaves by solid phase microextraction (SPME). This compound has also been used as a chromatographic stationary phase, where it absorbs ultraviolet light with wavelengths of 240-270 nm. Hexyl propionate has been shown to inhibit enzyme activities such as malic acid, fatty acid, and esterase catalysis.
