Potassium palmitate is a polymer film that is prepared by the reaction of potassium chloride and palmitic acid. It is used as a stabilizer in pharmaceuticals, which have high water activity and react with atmospheric oxygen to form peroxides. Potassium palmitate also serves as an antioxidant compound and has been shown to stabilize particles in cosmetic products. It has been found to be effective against skin conditions such as dandruff, acne, and eczema. The molecular weight of potassium palmitate is 784 Da.
