Naphthylamine Bordeaux is an organic compound that is a common amide of naphthalene. It has been used as a colorant for the surface of metal and as a radiation absorber for the prevention of radiation damage to films. This pigment has also been used in cellulose-based products, such as paper and textiles, as well as in polymerization initiators. The structural formula of naphthyl-amine Bordeaux is CHClN. The uptake of this pigment by plants is low, but it can be taken up by animals if they ingest it through food or water. Naphthylamine Bordeaux has been shown to interact with aluminium and other metallic surfaces, which can lead to corrosion. This pigment does not have any known phoretic activity, but it may attach to fatty alcohols or ester compounds. Naphthylamine Bordeaux also has aromatic hydrocarbon properties due to its benzene ring structure.
