Descripción:Ethyl 2-(naphthalen-2-yl)acetate is an organic compound that is a colorless liquid with a pleasant, fruity odor. It has the molecular formula C10H12O2 and it consists of an ethyl group attached to an acetate group. This product is used in the synthesis of other compounds and as a solvent for dyes and resins. Ethyl 2-(naphthalen-2-yl)acetate can be synthesized by substituting chloride for bromide in the reaction between methanol and naphthalene. The substitution can also be accomplished by adding potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide to the reaction mixture.
