It inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA by binding to topoisomerases and modulating their activity. 2-Iodoisophthalic acid also inhibits the production of anions by modifying pentafluorophenyl groups, which are found in many antitumour drugs. 2-Iodoisophthalic acid is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be effective against certain types of cancer cells. This compound is chiral and can exist in two forms: one with a right-handed rotation and one with a left-handed rotation.
