Ethyl 2-Carboxypropionate is an organic compound that belongs to the group of esters. It is a colorless liquid that has a pleasant aromatic odor. Ethyl 2-Carboxypropionate is used as a solvent, especially for cellulose nitrate and cellulose acetate, in the production of polymers and plastics, as well as in the manufacture of lacquers. This chemical also inhibits γ-secretase activity and is being investigated as a possible therapeutic agent for Alzheimer's disease.
