Descripción

1,4-Cyclohexanedicarbohydrazide (1,4-CHD) is a sympathomimetic drug that is used as a decongestant. 1,4-CHD is metabolized to pseudoephedrine, which has been shown to have antihistaminic and vasoconstrictor properties. 1,4-CHD is not sedating and does not cross the blood brain barrier. It has been found to be effective in treating chronic bronchitis and asthma when taken orally. Pregnant women should not take this drug because it can lead to low birth weight infants or premature births. The safety of this drug during breastfeeding has not been established.
