Spiro[4.4]nonane-4,9-dione is a catalytic compound that is used in the synthesis of organic compounds. It has been shown to be effective as a hydrogenating catalyst and is also used in x-ray crystallography studies of stereoselective reactions. Spiro[4.4]nonane-4,9-dione can be synthesised from cyclopentadienyl reagents, peroxide and solvents or hydroboration with x-rays or other catalysts.
