4,4'-Bipyridin-2-amine is a monomer with a molecular weight of 148.07 g/mol and an analytical purity of 99.1%. It is used as a reactant in the production of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which is used to coat non-stick pans and other cookware. The high pressure and temperature required for this process can be achieved by adding copper metal to the reaction mixture. 4,4'-Bipyridin-2-amine also has coordination properties that allow it to bind metal ions such as copper, which are then removed from the reaction mixture by filtration or washing. This product is stable under normal conditions and has a repeatability of up to ±0.5%.
