Descripción

Bunazosin hydrochloride is a drug used for the treatment of overactive bladder, benign prostatic hypertrophy, and primary pulmonary hypertension. It is a selective antagonist of the α1A-adrenoceptor, which inhibits the release of norepinephrine from nerve endings. The action of this drug is due to its ability to block the binding of norepinephrine to adrenergic receptors in smooth muscle cells. This leads to relaxation of smooth muscle cells in blood vessels, urinary bladder, and bowel. Bunazosin hydrochloride has been shown to reduce edema by inhibiting the accumulation of fluid in tissues. It also reduces congestion by lowering blood pressure and relieving symptoms associated with congestive heart failure. This drug has been shown to be beneficial in treating bowel diseases such as constipation and ulcerative colitis by increasing water permeability in the intestines.
