(-)-Toddanol is a secondary metabolite that is isolated from the leaves of Toddalia asiatica. (-)-Toddanol has been shown to possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities in vitro. The purified form of (-)-Toddanol can be used as a reference material for HPLC in analytical chemistry. It can also be used as an analytical standard for the quality control of plant extracts, or as a starting material for drug discovery and development.
-(-)-Toddanol is not active in vivo, but it is useful in vitro because of its high purity and high stability under physiological conditions.
